Test Data: View & Edit

Before we start creating web forms with list views and form views to display data, it will be useful to actually have some data in each table to start with.

During this tutorial we will establish some initial test data through Visual Studio. The same tool can be used to test our web forms are correctly inserting, updating and deleting records by checking the contents of tables within our database.

To access the data, right-click on the table in 'Server Explorer' and select 'Show Table Data'.

From here we can enter data, row by row. A row will not be accepted if any data is invalid, such as it is not accepted by the data type.

Enter the data below into the 'Site' table.

Enter the data below into the 'LocationTypes' table.

Enter the data below into the 'Buildings' table.

Enter the data below into the 'Locations' table.

Well done, we now have some data to work with when creating web forms with dynamic data.
